Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about piano lessons at ND Music Academy.

Q

What styles of piano do you teach?

We teach classical, jazz, contemporary, and pop piano. Lessons include technique, sight-reading, music theory, chord voicings, and improvisation—all adapted to your musical interests and goals.

Q

Do you offer piano lessons for neurodivergent students?

Yes. Piano provides clear visual and tactile feedback that many neurodivergent students find calming and rewarding. We structure every piano lesson around each student’s learning style and pace.

Q

Do I need a piano at home to take lessons?

We strongly recommend having a keyboard or piano at home so you can practice between lessons. If you don’t have one yet, we can recommend affordable options and you’re welcome to take lessons at our studio in the meantime.

Q

Will I learn to read sheet music?

Yes. Sight reading is a core part of our piano curriculum. Once you have a foundational grasp of the piano, we finish each lesson with sight-reading exercises to keep the skill sharp and give you a clear picture of your progress.

Q

Do you offer piano lessons for adults in Los Angeles?

Yes. We teach piano to students of all ages in Sherman Oaks, serving the greater Los Angeles area. Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to the piano, we’ll tailor lessons to your goals. New students receive 50% off their first 3 lessons.
